matt kali – low w/ oliver ford

new_retro_wave_by_k4rlswede-d5sbhsf

If Selena Gomez & Kygo would have recorded this tune, it would be a massive global hit and maybe their biggest tune to date. But these are relatively unknown young guns matt kali and oliver ford, who both display immense talent and most of all great synergy. It usually takes a team of songwriters and co-producers to come up with a massive dance anthem like this, but sometimes things are just meant to be – Like this juicy collabo right here! So here’s a bit of advice from anyone that had international success out of nowhere. Never change a running system, and by that i mean the team, who produced, promoted, and delivered this tune, down to its tiniest detail and its faceless members. Make that system work flawlessly, without effort or having to push, reproduce it over and over, hone your skills, your market value will only increase, over time, and will put you in a comfortable position of power. As anyone in the music biz will tell you, these days you have to work a track betw 6-12 months to break it, so let’s see where this stands after the summer. You still have a long way to go but you just made a MASSIVE entry!

The track as you can hear is a sweet summer serenade, with a latin guitar, a reaggeton feel and a massive hook that is real LOW! The tune will have teenagers doing things, they’ll regret the next morning and will maybe become the soundtrack to many nasty memories of 2017. Will definitely be a dj favourite this summer. Grab the Free Download that the label’s offering, and put it on your spicy devices seductive playlist. Works on all 31 genders!

I’ll take defloration for 200, Alex! Summer has officially begun!

Ed Sheeran – “Drunk in Love” (Dominique Jardin Remix). A Star In the Making. FREE DL

Dominique is already a star in the making. Lady is playing 90+ gigs a year for a respectable fee, playing the cool festivals and what not, partying with the big boys and i mean the BIG names, and she is the new global Red Bull EDM festival correspondent! So she is probably what has been missing on the EDM, Deep House, Electronic side of things, a respected and fun female dj who is not the defender of a cultural elite, exclusively deejaying in some halftime hip little bar in kreuzberg. She is cut out for the big stage, where girls belong as much as guys do. It’s just funny that is always has to be an Austrian who does it first in Europe for the rest to follow, and she is of course from Vienna…

I saw a few gigs of her and not even Avicii started at that level, where she already is. She is also a brand ambassador for Mercedes, as in Mercedes Benz, not Mercedes, my chilean house keeper, the more surprising it is that this is her first tune… ever… “she just didn’t feel the time was right.” Even though it’s a remix, you pretty much see where she is going with this. I call that focus.

And whats even more surprising is that she plays the cool side of things, she sent me one of her sets and she lives, although big room, right on the Dillon Francis side of things. and her first track is proof of that. Ed Sheeran took my favourite Beyonce song and turned it into an acoustic ballad, Dominique took Eds cover and turned it into a festival monster, with all the right ingredients, future bass, a trancy build up and whatnot. I had this on repeat, and i wouldn’t even call this EDM, but i also heard what else she had in store – and it’s gonna be good. Some big fat US cat is gonna come around and hijack the dame before any of us even knows what has happened and who she is. And she is gonna blow up stateside. If my label was into that kind of music i’d sign her right away, but so she is gonna do 2 remixes for me and i am super fine with that, bc the first one already came out a monster.

ps. i had never heard of her before we started chatting 2 months ago. shame on me! check out her website

Kygo – Nothing Left (The Golden Pony Remix)

Outstanding remix of Kygo’s ‘Nothing Left’ by emerging brooklyn duo The Golden Pony and if i would play electronic music in clubs, this would definitely be one of my songs to play at the next party. Either way, let’s take a look what they have to say about it:

“We remember seeing Kygo’s remix’s on Soundcloud a few years back and thinking that it was a fresh and interesting sound. Little did we know he would ultimately create a whole new sub genre of music, and that his signature metallic plucks are now being incorporated into a wide variety of musical styles from Trap to Pop music!
The vocal in “Nothing Left” really grabbed us as it has a soulful, almost gospel quality, which is something we gravitate towards. We sped up the vocal considerably to get it to a house music tempo (which luckily worked out), and then worked on getting some bangin’ bass and drum rhythms that will fit into our dj sets!

Obadiah Parker – Hey Ya (Outkast Cover remixed by Koni)

giphy

About time someone remixed or mashed up Obadiah Parkers old cover of Outkasts ueber anthem. The biggest, most played, most sold song of the 2000’s is Hey Ya and no remix can take that away from the magic of that simple, simple stupid song that we all love so much – and at times even hated, just because it was so overplayed that you couldn’t spend 5 min without hearing it. After all that i still love “Hey ya” and i actually had 2 copies of it on vinyl, not only for mixing it back and forth, in a pre Traktor/Serato world, but also as a backup, because i simply played it so often that one eventually had to go sooner or later. Here is a really good Tropical Take on it and i sure wish it will be included on the next TROPICAL SESSIONS Compilation!
