Jean Atem & RAYVON – Spend Time

jean atem rayvon spend time chromemusic

A dancehall r&b blend with a lot of pop appeal, straight from the island of Saint Lucia, with a proper sexy Caribbean feel. No doubt when Rayvon is on the track, but still the whole flow just moves like a snake through the track, and if there is anything to critisize, it is that the track could have been produced a bit more like Drakes Controller or Hotline Bling, bc the feel is already there with the super hooky and flawless vocals. Smells like it’s remix time, but a good thing this track came out, so that we can keep an eye on Jean Atem & his buddy Rayvons future endeavours! I guess, as always, continuity is the key to success here, and let’s see what else this new impeccable duo can cook up.

Spend Time is a collaborative track between Jean Atem and his best friend and music partner RAYVON. It blends an upscale Caribbean sound with notes of pop and dance. The fusion is catchy and captivating and its mainstream presence is undeniable.

Trust Feat. Cintia Lund by The Golden Pony

Big tune alert! The Golden Pony have been frequent flyers on this blog and we appreciated many of their remixes, but this track is a universe in itself with all its many details that make up a this delicate clockwerk. Had Trust on repeat for a long, long time, and i actually enjoyed that it didn’t demand anything from me, meaning it didn’t try to hype me up or give me some kind of over exaggerated sense of deepness or sadness. So the craftmanship speaks for itself instead of trying to build on some phony emotions which songs so often do these days. Welcome aboard my Main Playlist!

Golden Pony about their track:

“This track was written on a cold and rainy November day in Brooklyn. sexedate.ch. It came out feeling a bit dark, maybe the result of the weather and feeling trapped inside, but ultimately it was written with the idea of having absolute “trust” in the person you are with.” Well i trust you guys will come up with even more golden material and i also trust this song can go places, but it’s one of those slow burners… and that is a good thing!

Worldclass : Where I’m At (ft. Chloe Kissner) by Aftrparty

Head in my hands, Heart in my mouth..

First single from ‘The Aftrparty’ EP. Available on this weeks New Music Playlist on Spotify and according to the labels track record, this epic tune will around for many months to come. Definitely one of the most interesting tracks so far in 2017, which is a great year so far, and the arrival of Aftrparty on the international scene only underlines that. The perfect betw a melodramatically charged pop tune and a subtle zeitgeisty but still synaptic processable production, upgraded by the absolutely stunning vocals of Chloe Kissner.

Or in the words of their label:

“Alternative R&B act Aftrparty – the creative outlet of producer / instrumentalists Alex and Cian – got together as teenagers at a London high school in 2016. Their first original track “Hold Me Down” quickly garnered attention online, shooting to #1 on Hype Machine and cementing the duo as accomplished mixers of electronic, trap and hip-hop influences. Sonically, Alex’s production draws on the electronic dance beats of Flume & Mura Masa, as well as dark, 808-heavy influences. Cian blends in the distorted guitar and basslines of Travis Scott with elements of Frank Ocean’s organic palette forming a final product which fuses unique electronic and recorded sounds with inspired songwriting and intense production.” Bildschirmfoto 2017-03-12 um 18.23.39

About the song:

“Where I’m At started off as a heavy EDM beat Alex made in the summer of 2016. After shelving it for a few months, the duo brought it back to life with the unmistakeable sound of Cian’s guitar and bluesy vocals from Houston-based talent Chloe Kissner. Cian reworked Chloe’s initial lyrical ideas to reflect on what he was dealing with at the time – the repetitive, unsatisfying nature of doing the same thing every week and weekend is used as a metaphor for creating a perfect illusion of a girl, overcome with unfulfilling thought patterns. The instrumental blends Alex’s love of Mura Masa- style synths and 808 drops with Cian’s incorporation of Frank Ocean- esque guitar lines and clean verses.”

The old world’s gone mad, not many things that will keep us sane, and surely it won’t be music but maybe it can at least be what it’s originally intended for – maybe it can soundtrack your daily shitposting. And surely it won’t be any celebs illuminating our minds, be it musicians or the self-righteous Hollywood elite with their double standards, who are constantly chakra-fucking the masses with their moral superiority. Pretty easy to preach down when you are a filthy rich millionaire and are so out of touch with reality, that you are actually doing the very same thing that you are condemning. So last month the oscars happened and a couple of other things that generations before us cared about and that used to be big in the last century – you probably forget it already while facebook is napalming your perception of reality & yourself perpetually. It’s nice to see it all fade out and funny to monitor social media’s censorship and super entertaining to dive into different social media demographics & age groups, that have such a clearer and better view of reality. “They live (1986)” was a documentary!

Ps parts of Paris have been burning for a full month now.

The same blindness applies to us, the well-connected, globalized, urban, cultural elitists. We live a somewhat privileged, well isolated life and can always escape situations that make us feel uncomfortable or are even dangerous, but that is only the flight or fight part of our brain at work. As well as making continuous decisions on non-critical thinking, but based on empathy/ sympathy. I think my generation is almost completely lost, but that’s not so bad bc the children truly are the future and they are not ready to carry our self imposed ideological cross, that was actually nothing more but a ghetto for our minds, any further. It was a way to keep the useful idiots brainbugged and struggling for the opposite and entirely deceitful purpose. But instead of riding the spice merchant horse any further, let us get into our super-dank monthly top tunes, and if you happen to not like a tune, it must be the Russian Hackers again…. reeeeeeeee
