Door #16 : Sideways Vol 1 Mixtape – Mat McHugh mixed by Tommy Montana

In our Christmas Run down, here is a full mixtape, Tommy did, finding time out of his super busy schedule in recent days, to select his favourite Mat McHugh tunes and mixing them together with the tracks we recently released. As a short synopsis: we did a remix album with Mat, but it was a long back and forth betw us Major labels, insane offers and our general idea of not letting us being nailed down in terms of naming tracks, or even the act/artist himself. I still fully support our mindstate, but it was a loooong time in the making and cost us a lot time, nerves and other materialistic stuff. But that is out-of-the-way now, and we as a label, are finally running into our old form, after having eliminated and cut off the shackles of the corporate technocracy, So yeah, we are indy and that is the best state. Dig into Mats superb originals and our remixes from 2016 altogether that Tommy blended into a super sweet Mixtape (old school style). Enjoy Sideways Vol 1. Opening door#15 on our Advent Calendar, we find this true gem that we had the pleasure of releasing a few weeks back. Super proud of this wonderful cinematic songwring ballad full of love about love, that you can literally feel . The track is ‘Growing & Glowing’ as it rightfully should. About ‘If I Could be Yours’ and the team-up of Temple Haze & producer narou :

If I Could Be Yours is a ballad, conceptualised as an equivocal and psychedelic narrative into the different ways love can be perceived. ‘When you first fall for someone they seem to be the answer to all your questions, you can see this person as your saviour, maybe they are your saviour, maybe it is just lust disguised as love, maybe you are truly in love but do not understand how to see it, these are the main themes I was inspired by’, Temple says… Moreover, the song is a tribute to the idea of love; how we can see and feel love as this transformative entity.

If I Could Be Yours is based in Gospel. ‘My mother is a gospel and choir singer and I always had that influence following and motivating me. With this track I felt a calling to channel my mothers energy into the songs essence, as she inspired me to be authentic to myself.’

Temple started his journey into music on the road, hitchhiking through America and Europe, working on organic farms, living an off-the-grid lifestyle, busking on the streets and finding his way as a vagabond. After nearly 4 years on the road He moved to Berlin to settle into the vibrant artistic community. Since then the Washington, DC native has been making waves in Berlin’s underground music scene. He is best known for his collaborations as a singer and co-composer of BAKERY, featured vocalist with SAM SHURE, and currently in collaboration with the producer NAROU. Temple’s live repertoire includes solo acoustic shows, full band shows, downbeat ableton live sets, mystical DJ sets, and ambient soundscapes…

All in all, Temple has played at over 200 shows around the world, and as a support act for Crystal Fighters (with Bakery) and Rising Appalachia (Solo).

Temple also dives deep into sound design, film score composition, brainwave entrainment frequencies, and ancient mantras bringing the music scene and spirituality together in a unique combination. As co-founder and musical director of Soneiro Collective he holds space for sound journeys and vocal workshops portraying the best of his universal knowledge and empathic feeling for music.

Door #19: The Best Song this Winter PERIOD. “Dirty Habit” by Reece Lemonius & Lui Peng

This is the follow-up to Reece Lemonius first Song ‘Love Me’ that went viral on some bad hombres YouTube channel and garnered 20 Mio Plays in 10 weeks! NOW that’s true virality but ultimately that copyright trespassing channel got deleted and the plays along with it. Nonetheless, the track is performing spectacular for a no name’s first offering. And this is a team-up with fellow London native Lui Peng, who did quite a lot of solid releases so far, and has just returned from a successful Asia tour. These two made the sexiest love tune of the season.

Dirty Habit is Pure Gold

And finally about “Dirty Habit”. This track is the chillest, smoothest, sexiest track out there. It plays on all clichés, caters only to the mood and feel it captures the listener in, and ultimately it ends like a sweet dream, leaving you to crave more of that honey. It has the aesthetics of a european chill tune, but also the lyrical rhythmicalities of a US R&B/Trap Rap tune, w/o ever turning into a cliché, but still unique and fresh on its own. It definitely fits in each an every playlist from chill to pop, urban, r&b and almost everything else. Dirty Habit can stand next to any big name (tried and tested) and still come out on top, feel and mood wise. This is how comfortable i want to get on a chill night with my girl, and this is how my happy place sounds at any time. Definitely the strongest track right now.

DIRTY HABIT is BIG. Let’s see how long it takes until the world finds out about it!

Door #13: A glimpse of a young songwriter: Alex Fisher – The Sailor’s Wife

Hailing aboard the label, Alex Fisher is a young US / Austin based singer songwriter with an affinity for beautiful moods and feels, which will soon convey into heartfelt songs, adding to his list of already established song. Alex’ music “makes you stop what you’re doing and listen extra close.” His writing has been described as “atmospheric and vast […] the perfect blend of melancholy and innocence” and has been compared to the works of early Coldplay, Sufjan Stevens, Bon Iver and Alt-J.

His debut EP ‘The Sailor’s Wife’ includes five tracks which were individually composed, recorded, and produced by Alex while spending a year in London.

We are happy to be joining him along his artists journey – under his brand new artist project Tiny Dolphin in 2019 – and here is a good idea where this will go, and also a glimpse of our youtube channels new design ;) where we will feature every released track and every real Video and Lyric Video, and sometimes just little messages from our artists. Alex is now joining our ranks and we are super happy to have him on board, so get a taste of him with one of his older offerings, that sadly went mostly unnoticed. Hope we can change that. Behind Advent Calendar Door#8 is literally the best kept secret:

We just started out our Chrome Music Label 3 months ago and tried to handle this release/song undercover, but not as much as that it didnt gain traction by itself.Introducing: Reece is a brilliant young man, hailing from London, UK, who has hit me up with tons of material about a year ago. I liked all of it, and that is super-rare in my world. So we took our time to establish a set sound, stye & feel, nail down the songwriting, as to where it needs to go and worked on the sound we have now established. He is a classical pop, soul songwriter with a modern feel and we are super happy to be working on it and to be creating beautiful music. Ps thanks to our entire Chrome Music team: Coco, Domi, Reece himself, Ralph, Patrick, Toby, Tom, Martin, and everybody else involved.

Ps the Lyric Video is just a little edit we threw together to test another video;) but you’ll still get the feel of it!

This is his first single, that went viral, had 20 mio plays within 10 weeks, until the YouTube channel got deleted for copyright nonsense (sucks). Still a few videos out there with a couple of mio views. It is gaining traction on Spotify & Apple, one of the remixes became viral in France and ended up heading a tv show and whatnot. In total we have worked on over 50 songs, and managed to create 20 blissful tunes, that have me loving my own sound again.

Ps Soon we’ll have a remix competition with his latest tunes.

Love Me has an incredible personal to playlist ratio and the algorithms and curators at Spotify & Apple seem t be picking up on it as we speak. His style is hard to describe, since he is somewhere betw a classical piano based songwriter in the vein of John Legend, Seal or even Ben Howard, if compared to well known artists, but the musical approach we established for his music is modern, filtered down and mostly beat & mood based, and many songs are even club tunes. You will hear it anyway, soon enough. Super proud to present to you : “Love Me”, an honest and real tune, that just opens the door to get a glimpse of what is in store for the future of this young man and our project, that has been carefully handcrafted with passion, patience and a lot of faith.

Ps Reece Lemonius new Track ‘Dirty Habit’ with fellow london based singer Lui Peng is coming out this next Friday December 14th! it’s a slow moody, chilled late night killer tune.
