A few weeks ago Metronomy released their 3rd Album The English Riviera. Of all songs my personal favourite is The Look. The other song is an older one, but this superb remix by Discodeine is too good to be left out. One of the guys responsible for the remix is Pilooski, a name you should be familiar with, who appears to be one half of Discodeine.

Foster the People “Torches”

Foster the peoples new album “Torches” has been doing the trick for me for over a week now and i like it better the more i hear it, so i guess its worth a suggestion to you guys. You will definitly hear at least two of these three tunes wherever i play out, but thats just my dj favourites – the rest of the album is packed with great music. Fitz & the Tantrums

Introducing…. Fitz & the Tantrums, although the album “Pick up the pieces” came out last summer and the Ep is even from way back in 2009. Its worth re-introducing this somewhat Motown instumented band, that reminds me, songstructure & hook wise, more of some 80ies bands that i simply cant name no more, but i know that Fitz’ swinging curl looks a lot like 80ies band ABC’s frontman Martin Fry, and the whole lot of them sure have that Blues Brothers look. In a post Mark Ronson world these songs fit right in with the modern day whiteboy soul thats rejecting todays so called soul offerings and looking for something with a more original feel – and this is where Fitz & the Tantrums come in, they sound authentic and thats why we dig them. Here are the tunes we recommend.

Jamie XX’ debut single on Numbers is a state of the art summer production with a catchy steel drum sample, that seems to have become his trademark, ever since the epic rolling in the deep remix. The b side is much moodier and if you go on the Numbers soundcloud page you get to hear it as well, just didnt fit the vibe of our site. Nearer on the other hand works fine with us.
