Door #10: Funk Playlist by Chrome Musics own Dominique

Happy Monday with a Funk Playlist by Chrome Musics own Dominique

Adventcalendar #10. A personal Funk favourites Playlist by Dominique, who is one of our producers and captains onboard the Chrome Music Label. We met him years ago through another project and we instantly clicked with his vibe and humour, the guys got plenty, as the picture carefully suggests. But alas, he is also a proper church educated musician and pianist, who lives, loves and worships the Funk side of music, no matter what music he produces or works on (currently Reece Lemonius, whom i introduced a few days ago). Coming from a release-wise electronic oriented background he literally likes it all, but his roots, if ever asked, will always be what he packed into this playlist. His Funk bag of goodies.

Coming from the rare groove vinyl collectors era, most of the tracks probably aren’t surprising to me, or others – especially considering the deep knowledge and dedication we put into the musical history. But, and this is a BIG but, you cannot possibly deny the quality of these tracks, and being in his mid to late 20’s i think it’s worth mentioning that this millennial generation of his was brainwashed into different (imho more plastic sounding) music. So here’s a personal applause for gathering such a great collection. Much appreciated Domi!

Reece Lemonius x Sonnengruss – Love Me (Dance Version)

Sonnengruss is back! Well, he was never gone just busy playing live gigs all over Europe with big names like Alan Walker, Robin Schulz, Felix Jaehn, Fritz Kalkbrenner… (you want me to continue? ;)) As Dj & Sound Designer he knows how to combine powerful Dance Grooves with grande vocals (often supported by live acts on stage) and his trademark – catchy guitar licks that go straight to your feet. On countless festivals like the Loveweek in Croatia where he’s been a resident over the last four years, he demonstrates his successful style time & again.

And as simple as his formula might sound – making people happy and giving thousands of party animals an unforgettable time filled with love, joy and sweat – he’s one of the most honest and down to earth guys we’ve met over the last couple of years. This pays off not just in real life, I haven’t even started to tell you his success story in the digital matrix:

Sonnengruss went to Hypem Nr.1 twice in 2016 & 17 and Universal signed his first official release Day & Night right away. He is monitored as the one German dance act that still hasn’t reached mainstream, although Remixes of his tracks got played in public TV and have and had been placed in several Spotify dance playlists on peak positions. Just his latest official Release, a modern interpretation of the 80ies classic ‘Talking In Your Sleep‘ with the German youngster Richard Istel gained over one million plays on Spotify within a few months. despite having any promotion.

And now this Banger! SG delivered the one remix we were hoping for and turned ‘Love Me’ by Reece Lemonius into a track very reminiscent of Dennis Lloyds “Nevermind” or Matt Simons “Catch & Release”. Reece’s tribute to his broken love got turned into a vibey, vivid, soulful dance track whose guitar will be stuck in your head for ages.

This original track by Reece is just way too powerful and another remix of “Love Me” is just going super sayan or viral while garnering over 9 Mio YouTube plays in 3 weeks, and the story is a remarkable.

And who’s Reece anyway with this breathtaking voice, charismatic lyrics and flawless songwriting you’re aksing? Yes – that’s worth  at least another post (on Monday) and definitely only the first chapter of the next big (love) story we’re about to share with you…

Playlist : Exploring the Wastelands [fallout themed list of classic jazz, pop]

fallout-3-wasteland,-man-with-dog-202853

Classic tunes of times gone by like Ella, Billie Holiday, Bing Crosby and the likes. So you know you are in for a ride. Might be a good playlist for a dinner to sh0w off the class you pretend to have, but as the title says inspired by the Fallout series. An awesome game placed in a nuclear wasteland, so it’s still a chad of a contrast. Killer games btw. Highlight – “Crawl out through the Fallout” by Sheldon Allman.

Playlist : Chillout Indian & Oriental [good for yoga sessions]

Sweet PL, it feels very trippy at first, but being firsthand experienced and dealing with tons of Yoga normies, teachers and enthusiast on the daily, this is what they are looking for. It’s traditional sounding (somewhat) but still has that beat, that drives the practise without ever becoming too electronic but keeping an organic feel throughout. Give it a go and see if it suits your needs ;)

Playlist : Sensi Mag Late Night [bridging the gap betw cannabis & modern chill music]

4f174d671b29d4ec4bb48595e54afdb7

This list is exactly what it says it is, and if there was a need to bridge any gap between marijuana and literally anything, i’d say mission accomplished. Good selection and a good sonic slow mo infusion when u need one. Makes you work, study, relax and stay calm throughout the day or night. More the Sativa kind of playlist. Heavy chilling guaranteed.

Put some Ugandan Knuckles Sfx on repeat while inhaling this list. Guaranteed giggles.
