So Much Win! Cajsa Siik – Higher (Lakechild Remix)

This tune is gonna be huge! ChromeMusic has always been a fan of the original and Cajsa Siik’s music in general, but this rework that i have heard at 3 (!) different parties last weekend alone just kills it. Its catchy enough so that the mainstream can get on the bandwagon, and at the same time transports that summery good vibe feel that i am looking for in zeitgeisty music. Pure bliss and sonic remedy in the endless stream of new remixes, this one stands out bc it is a song by itself and that’s what i expect from a remix: To give it a different twist and feel, but still staying true to and respecting the original material. According to the amount this tune has been played in our office and on college radio already, we are gonna hear this one a lot this summer – and that’s a good thing!

The equivalent of a Neptunes (NERD/Pharrell) tune of the 00’s is this DOCO rework. Why? Hard hitting and chopped sounding sample – Check! Reworking of a talented white pop singer – Check! Making said white bwoy (gul) pop star sound bearable to the urban demographics (i apologize black people) and at the same time, making it sound cooler bc of said urban demographic twist and turn on the remix – Check! Using zeitgeisty soundboards of a popular style/genre w/o going to deep into said style (in this case twerk/trap) – Check!

Yep we got a hit on our hands – that i really like. Not a guilty pleasure – that’s reserved for you critics – but a legitimate prime time tune! Djs need to grab this here.

To put it into the words of my old school partner and rhyming machine Kamillion (a proper G from LA): “This bitch bound ta blow up.” Another killer tune from Phoebe Ryan:

We salute this song! More modern than most material, w/o the usage of all the dumbed down clichés of 2015 808 crapola influenced “urban” music. Ps urban in my book is still the equivalent of politically correct dickholes referring to “negro music”. I herby apologize that some smart-ass (preferably me) categorized hip hop on ChromeMusic as “hip hop / urban). WTF was i thinking?

Anyways… Great hip hop tune! Shinning bright! Nuff said!

Ps Earthgang is one of the hottest acts around!

Another R&B/90s Soul classic get the low vocals-formant retuning and the understandable 4/4 easy rework to make it fit for playing it on synced decks, cd players and or consoles. If i were an advocate for ‘real’ deejaying i’d probably knock this tune, but i guess (and still firmly believe) what counts with music is the sheer fun it can be. This one is fun, so here’s my skywards pointed thumb of approval!
