When Fela Kuti meets Pharrell Williams. WOW! (FREE DL)

“To be honest and truthful in all endeavours is an experience, not a regret” – Fela Kuti

fela kuti 2Screw all those Happy remixes and versions! This here is a completely different twist, incorporating the slickness, the briliant horns and grooves of the man who put african music on the map: Fela Kuti. Anything with Fela in it is an instant win in my book. Especially if it’s that smooth and manages to twist Happy into something entirely different. Thx dj100proof for sending this through. Even if buddhist say to be deattached – make sure to have your links attached, the next time :))) Brilliant, dude. Proper YUM YUM Version in a perfect world!

How Shaolin Monks Train For The Martial Arts (Photo Gallery And Some Music By The RZA)

Well nobody really knows what Shaolin Kung Fu is actually supposed to be these days. Its definitely not a direct successor of the original Shaolin Temple heritage. A form of Kung Fu that is most similar to Hung Gar Kung Fu, resident in the southern parts of China, much like Wing Tsun and Choi Li Fut. But before going into the photo gallery, first here’s a short snippet of RZA’s new bandcamp compilation entitled “The RZA presents Shaolin Soul Selection: Volume 1“. What else did you expect? hahahaha…

And this is how modern day Shaolin monks train for the martial arts. Very reminiscent of the 70s Hong Kong movies. Shaw Brothers anyone? Enjoy…

This Alicia Keys Remix Is Like A Fine Wine, Getting Better And Better With Age.

“I don’t know about y’all but I know about us and uh, It’s the only way we know how to rock…”

alicia keys usher my boo reggae remixDon’t really like the 2004 original that much, but this remix here is something special. The reggae vibes transform it into something else – taking out all the cheesiness or actually bringing out the full cheesiness and making it one of those crowd tunes where the ones who care oh so much about their coolness go “I don’t like it but i am acting like i’m loving it, cause that’s how sarcastic i can get” and the ones who are there to enjoy themselves turn instantly into a happy crowd. The choise is up to you if you are still gonna be caught up in appearances and depending on someone elses appreciation (out of fear, cause that’s what insecurities and complexes are) or if you are just gonna enjoy the moments given, always conscious of the consequences of your actions (so no, yolo and intellectual mindfucks do not apply here). This tune is one of those sing a long – happy crowd is happy kind of songs that you can play at any point of the night, if you’re a dj. And if you are not, these observations are irrelevant… Enjoy the lovely song (ps yes i know its actually an Usher song, but hey my old record sleeve says Alicia Keys, so that’s settled for me)
