I Was Feeling Melancholic. Until This Song Came On. Now I Want To Travel Around The Globe!

Great feelgood tune with a happy dancefloor vibe and actually my jam of jams, for the past few days. A great piece of pop music in a contemporary 140 bpm outfit with the double time 808 sounds and claps, and especially with keyboards that sound like carribbean steeldrums.Makes you want to get up and leave the house… the city… the country… and jump on planes, trains and automobiles to head towards the sunny lands. Even though it’s about traveling together through life and going through changes but never giving up on each other. Great effort by this, until now unknwon band to me, hailing from Washington DC. Enter Misun and come, Travel With Me! You are going to hear this in all my sets… guaranteed!

There Is Nothing Worse Than Embarassing Love Songs! This Is Not One Of Them!

Brilliant song about the many fights in non-conscious realationships, that are designed to bring you happiness by meeting expectations and demands, that cannot be met. Or can you meet your own expectations? Of course not, so how could anyone else? People often tend to say, thats how it is and that’s called life and one should accept it. I am a big fan of acceptance and surrender but that’s like arguing as why to eat the same ice cream flavour every day, and forbidding yourself to ever try another. That doesn’t mean go from partner to partner but if there’s an experience causing you pain – you will eventually let it go and look for another way. Maybe one could call the hurt and pain in relationships a necessary experience for one to grow, and aim for another and try to look out of one’s own mental borders, take a different perspective and approach. Constantly reflect what is going on inside yourself and monitor your own emotions without judging. Forgiveness is another key. And simpy give up the relationship with oneself! It’s that easy! You’ll see, it will work miracles!

And as long as you still relive the same story over and over and hang on to your ego, like crack heads to a pipe. A situation like this…

…will easily ignite and turn into something like this. For no apparent reason at all.

Anyways, compelling song By Raleigh Ritchie will make you seek peace on whatever front your heart is fighting. And with the background the title “Bloodsport” has, it has JCVD all over the tune! I just can’t help it :)

12 Best Songs Used In Coen Brothers Movies. Full Playlist!

The Cohen Brothers are know for being maybe the most celebrated moviemakers in the world today, just look at their resumee. It’s hard to even find someone who comes close. Everybodys favourite movie list seems to include at least one Cohen Brothers movie and besides releasing some of the best movies for the past two decades, they are the grandmasters when it comes to using music in movies. Maybe only matched by Tarantino, but their approach and effect is a completely different one. They have a wide selection of outstanding musical moments in their body of work and even a few where the lack of music adds to the atmosphere created (think No Country For Old Men).

Their most recent release “Inside Llewyn Davis” is even about a young singer who tries to make it in the folk/singer scene in the early 60ies with way too many good songs to pick from for this list.

So here’s a playlist with what we, after a hefty debate with our artsy artschool friends, decided were the most outstanding musical moments in Coen Brothers movies. Here is the rundown: The Top 12 Songs Used In Coen Brothers Movies:

  • 12. Frank Patterson “Danny Boy” | Miller’s Crossing
  • 11. Four Tops “It’s The Same Old Thing” | Blood Simple
  • 10. Jose Feliciano “Let’s Find Each Other Tonight” | Fargo
  • 9. Gypsy Kings “Hotel California” | The Big Lebowski
  • 8. The Fugs “CIA Man” | Burn After Reading
  • 7. Alison Krauss “Down By The River” | Oh Brother Where Art Thou
  • 6. Carter Burwell “Way Out There” | Raising Arizona
  • 5. Nancy Sinatra “These Boots Are Made For Walking” | Fargo
  • 4. Kenny Rogers ” Just Dropped In” | The Big Lebowski
  • 3. Jefferson Airplane “Somebody To Love” | A Serious Man
  • 2. Bob Dylan “The Man In Me” |The Big Lebowski
  • 1. Soggy Bottom Boys “Man Of Constant Sorrow” |Oh Brother Where Art Thou

This Broken Bells Song Will Send You Through Space And Time, So Hold On To Your Life!

This new tune by the Broken Bells could have easily been released in the 80ies. It’s that strong of an anthem(ic) pop tune. Broken bells deliver each and every time and they know how to sprinkle the most diverse of magic powders with their music. I can’t get enough of this 80ies vibe ;) . This could have been in the remastered version of Rocky III, shortly before Eye Of The Tiger starts, right before Rocco gets on his bike and rides through the night streets of Philadelphia. Or it would have been a strong addition to the already incredible Drive OST.

My 80ies mind is going into hypermode! I can literally see the 80ies video to this song with Kelly LeBrock and Don Johnson driving through Miami’s neon lit roads at nightt, in an alternate timeline where Weird Science met Miami Vice. Ps is that a Theremin i hear at the start of the song? Man, i love this tune! This Broken Bells song will send you through space and time, so hold on to your life!
