This has to be my favourite Singer Songwriter Tune at present! I know she was on the Voice and all, but hey i like these kind of uplifting tunes that make you tap away and have that feel of spring and early summer. Very well done Ms Glaser. After delivering maybe THE album of last year it’s hard to one up that, but Vampire Weekend manages to deliver this winters first and only anthem that sounds so much like winter. Lovely tunes with the help of uber hipster god Danny Brown & Heems (Das Racist) & Despot. Biggest hipster band in the world + biggest hipster rapper doesn’t necessarily equal ‘biggest hipster tune’ – in this case this is just a beautiful song. And that’s the fine line between kids and men.

Listening to this tune and a few seconds in, memories and images start to emerge. Cheap golden bling, neatly, tight plucked eyebrows, and some gear that’s definitely too tight for your thighs. All a bit ridiculous from todays perspective. And then MNEK’s remix kicks in full force and all i can do is grin. He manages to turn these images into a nice memory, makes me dig out the original tune and once more makes me wish i had the hips of an african lady…
It wasn’t that ridiculous! Maybe a tiny bit, but mostly it used to be fun! And that’s exactly what this song is. FUN…

It’s kind of a Funny Story. A movie that uncompromisingly creeps into your heart. It makes you recall just how beautiful this life can be, because it’s so (temptingly) insane. Or because you are nuts yourself. Or simply nuts at times. Or not insane at all, but then life wouldn’t be that beautiful.
And for these (special) moments, where madness and beauty go hand in hand, only one song fits. “Where Is My Mind” by the Pixies. Maxence Cyrin, with his graceful elegance, rendered the song anew on the piano. Honestly my thoughts rarely stop spinning at 2:47 min. And piano music can run for hours anyway. Seems like someone had the same thought/idea and looped the music. 35 min for your thoughts. Those of you who can’t stop after that, should reconsider that thing about madness ;)
Es mag vielleicht an der Musik liegen, dass die Band Ok Go bisher völlig an mir vorbeigerauscht ist. Dabei hatten sie eines der meist gesehenen Videos im Netz. Egal. Zufällig bin ich auf dieses hier gestoßen und ganz ehrlich: Für so viel Spiel, Spaß und Spannung in einem Musikvideo ziehe ich den Hut!
