filous – How Hard I Try ft. James Hersey

tumblr_njhokdxurv1qaf3uxo1_500

We just had one of this lovely warm summer nights last week with James Hersey live on stage and a glass of red wine. A week later the sun escaped again but filous brings back the chilled summer vibe with his first original track ever of his upcoming EP “Dawn”. Thumbs up for this collaboration with James Hersey, to me filous is always telling something like – don’t worry, everything will be alright or just relax, world is turning anyway. Always a good feeling, can’t wait for the EP :)

Teleseen – Outlines

chrome tumblr

Feel Up Records (you know, Jillionaire’s label) always take us on a jungle, big sound clat journey. Sometimes we start with a DJ from Philly and end with a hip-hop artist from Mexico.

Today, we got to listen to “Outlines” by Teleseen, a duo from Rio de Janeiro. “Outlines” transforms us to an island off the coast of São Paulo state, complete with a soundtrack of ivory and percussion in the foreground and a Fugees like breezy Caribbean vibe in the background.

Go way back on their SoundCloud, (we are talking six years) and Teleseen has always been able to tell their cross country story through sound.

#ChromeSelects: Feast.

feast

Feast your eyes on feast. Sorry, I just had to. This three DJ team is new to the scene and about to get WAVVVY this Saturday night. Clear off your schedule and come through to the MIAO Bar, we are set to get deep.

1) What sounds has influenced Feast. thus far?

Nu-Disco, Deep-House, Tech-House, UK Garage, Indie, also some Singer/Songwriter stuff.

2) Who would you like to collaborate with?

Right now we are working with different vocalists and other musicians on new features. We started working on remixes, but we are focussing more on our own releases now.

3) How do you pick a song to remix? For instance, how did you pick “The Light?”

If it’s catchy and has a good vibe it’s always a good base to start working on it. The main reason to pick a track for us is that it inspires us, and gives us a need to have our own interpretation of it. I guess we picked Sbtrkt’s “The Light” because the original version acts like an interlude as it has no drums, but we thought that edited it has the potential to be a club track.

4) Who should we be listening to?

There are countless artists who are worth listening to, so we can’t even figure out where to start. Maybe start with some of our label and booking mates like Milky Chance, James Hersey, Lakechild, LEEX, Kafka Tamura or the wonderful new indie band Kytes. We thought about naming some records you must have, but everyone involved in Feast. has a different musical background so the decision process would end in an huge argument.

5) What are some personalities we should follow on Facebook and/or Instagram?

That’s a hard one for us. We can’t really tell you one, because we don’t really follow many people, except our friends and some artists we really like.

6) Favorite sub-genre of House?

When it comes to producing, definitely Deep-House, when we are playing a set in a club we enjoy playing more Tech-House.

7) What should we expect to hear this Saturday?

As we have the pleasure to play the whole evening, we will be able to put a lot of material in the set. You can expect some Deep-House, Tech-House, Nu-Disco and even some Soul-Edits. We are probably gonna play some unreleased stuff as well.

HONOR – Never Off (PANG! Remix)

HONOR Chromemusic

Honor has been surrounded by music in her whole life, but it wasn’t until around 5 years ago, after a really emotional event in her life changed the way she had previously looked at the world, and so she started writing. She wrote down all of her thoughts and feelings. ‘Never Off’ is her motto to never give up, to remind everyone of us that we are all strong and beautiful in our own way. The duo Pang turned it into a super relaxed remix!

Drippy Dolphin – Stronger

tumblr_nnc0m675Kt1rtfp9ho1_1280

Drippy Dolphin, where have you been? We’ll whatever body of water he or she’s been swimming in, we are glad he (or she’s) back. Rife with gun shots, Drippy takes on “Stronger” and “Hollerback Girl,” making for an intense Jersey Club turn-up. Drippy Dolphin, part of the #FOFOFADI crew, has released 2 tracks over the past year, each screwed with it’s own 90’s pop throughout. It’s fun, it doesn’t make sense, and it’s something to get up and dance too.

Drippy says he’s back, but we’ll see…

ALO WALA – Vibrate To Win EP

chrome tumblr

ALO WALA is on some next level ish. This EP, billed, as “Interplanetary,” gives us three tracks to party to, rage to, and to round it out, chill to. Reminiscent to “Dirty Vibe” by Skrillex, this mix mosh of a group featuring Punjabi-Indian rapper Shivani Ahlowalia and Danish bass producers Julius Sylvest and Copyflex, also known as the duo Copia Doble Systema (that’s a mouthful) hits with a sexy “I’m a Boss A** Bit**” vibe on “Texi Mexi.”

Round two takes reverb nation head-on with an Indian beat, making for all the workings for a dubious repeated sample not to be messed with.

If round one & two are like Goliath, then round three, “The Coconut” is like David, subtle and poised but ready to strike on an easy Sunday playlist. This track lays on the beach, where Brooklyn Shanti winds us down with relaxed vocals.
