Recap of Manchester June 5th

A massive thank you to goes out to everyone who came down to Yum Yum on Friday, and special thanks goes to DJ Sketchy (and his lovely lady!) of MAN MAKE MUSIC for making the long train ride north to come rock our party… and rock it he did!

He was also kind enough to drop us a mix for us to post, have a listen and go show some love for Sketchy on myspace…

We’ve been so busy recently it’s been difficult to get a new mix together, but happy to say June’s mix is done and dusted and here for your listening pleasure (still have a few copies of the YY UK VOL 4 CD for anyone coming down to Walrus this week). It’s an unashamed party mix this time round, and a good reflection of some of the tunes that are really raising the roof for us in Manchester!

The next Yum Yum will be Friday July 3rd, details to follow asap… but it’s gonna be my birthday bash also… the BIG THREE-OH! There’s guaranteed to be a Scottish invasion that night with some of my countrymen making the trip down to usher me into my Dirty Thirties, so it’s bound to be a raucous affair… be warned!

What: YUM YUM Sommerfest w Open Air Area – this Wednesday, June 10th

Djs: From 4 YUM YUM Cities. Chrome, Not:fx & Schu (Munich), Schowi (Berlin), Beware (Vienna) & Kamikaze (Shanghai).

3 Areas: The Main YUM YUM Floor, the Open Air Area & a smaller Top Friend Floor.

Where: Kongesshalle – Theresienhöhe 15, right behind this old lady on the Oktoberfest. Kongresshalle on Google Maps.

Start: Doors will be open @ 9pm (Open Air Area). Main rooms open @ 11pm.

If it rains: Won’t affect the main rooms. The Open Air Area is protected by waterproof parasols.

How to get there: There is a parking spot within walking distance, no more than 2-3 min right on Theresienwiese aka Oktoberfest (enough room for 1500 cars). Easy to reach by bike and a bus is going there – line 153.

Specials: Great Open Air Area with a great Soundsystem – will be open all night long!!

Catering: There is a great catering & BBQ waiting, with even vegetarian food on spot. Unlike other off locations, cigarettes are sold on the spot.

YUM YUM Sommerfest gift: A ton of new YUM YUM Vol 9 Mixtapes/ CDs will be handed out at the entry, unlike last friday, where the supplys only lasted for half an hour. PS!!! Join the YUM YUM Munich Facebook group to get a download link in advance.

Extra, Extra!!! YUM YUM Shanghai this Saturday @ MAO, June 6th

whew, almost slipped our mind – YUM YUM Shanghai taking off this Saturday, June 6th before these two geezers in the front are reunited next week, after missing each other in Bangkok last month – by actually no more than a couple of minutes. We ve got a new one coming up – finally after 5 weeks the wait is over. YUM YUM will take place this Friday @ Registratur with Djs Chrome, Tand Williams and the now steady Top Friend Area with Norbert Schiegl & Raph on dj duties. A new YUM YUM Mixtape (Vol. 9) will be passed out (actually 2 new mixtapes – be in for a surprise as what the 2nd one will be) so make sure to show up early and come by for another massive night that i myself am itching for. Gonna be huge – so do not forget to sign up to our YUM YUM Munich group on Facebook and to join this YUM YUM night or party on Fb.

Its been a long time coming:

We always wanted to bring you the YUM YUM sound in an Open Area. Too bad there aren’t any good ones in munich. Thats why it took us so long. Especially with YUM YUM being cut dow to only one date a month (believe you me – it wasn’t our idea) people have been asking us for a second date and have been urging us to geta 2nd date – but frankly there weren’t any good spots in munich – every other location besides Registratur would have been a Ghetto Upgrade – and we didn’t want to have a 2nd YUM YUM just for the sake of it – we decided to wait until we had a good spot – even if only for one night.

But on Wednesday, May 10th its on (theres a holiday the day after, k?). The BBQ & Open Air Area starts @ 9pm. Main floors start @ 11pm.

With us as Munich residents and original team – Chrome, Schu, Not:fx – guests are coming in from almost all other YUM YUM Spots: YUM YUM Berlin – Schowi, YUM YUM Shanghai – Kamikaze and YUM YUM Vienna – dj Beware – which is premiering the following Friday, June 12th @ Cafe Leopold. There are supposedly 3 areas, i really hope that works out, A YUM YUM Main Area (huge spot – with a great soundsystem), A YUM YUM Open Air Area another huge Garden with some delicious BBQ food by the cook of Walther & Benjamin and a rather smaller and noisier Top Friend area. You will be in for a treat.

This is the first gathering of some of the YUM YUM cities and venues and i am really looking forward to this one. We ll get to hear the YUM YUM sound of 4 cities and some good friends of ours are coming down – just like a huge family reunion. This is the reason why we are going other places – to have this kind of exchange going – and its worked out very well everywhere – with the right mindset, attitude, care, friendliness, setup, people and the right friends who understand what we are doing here. (ps after the summer there are 2-3 more cities being added to the YUM YUM network)

We will be giving out the new YUM YUM Vol 9 and a second Mixcd we made specially for our people. And there will be plenty for most of you.
