Some HipHop tunes that i have been enjoying recently and nice Hip Hop & Soul Party this Friday

word-up-viertel

A good opportunity to blog some hip hop tunes that i have been digging recently. My buddies, the guys who ran the HIP HOP floor on NYE, which was legendary by the way, are moving into this once inna lifetime venue, to keep the party going. They seem to have a run and quality hiphop simply doesnt have enough spots in Munich. I am talking the Roots, Badu, Mark Ronson, Miike Snow, Mos Def, Common, Roots Manuva etc – you know the likes..- so no autotune on this side of the channel.

djs will be – D-Nice, Excellent & Reload1

Check the event on Facebook – i even like the last-minute flyer.

Bass ill Euro remixing german number 1 artist Jan Delay

Some people might know my partner DJ Passion and myself (Schowi) under our moniker “Bass ill Euro“. As Bass ill Euro we’ve been deejaying together throughout Germany for a few years now and producing remixes and edits mainly for our own dj purposes. German former rap-star turned funk-pop-star Jan Delay and old friend of mine asked us to remix “Oh Jonny”, his first single of his number 1 (!) album “Wir Kinder vom Bahnhof Soul“.
Our remix is a so-called certified club banger, call it urban house, ghetto house, call it what you want, it’s getting massive support from djs all over the country. I don’t know how people outside Germany will react to the german lyrics – Mister Santos provided some additional rap for the remix – but i can assure that people wild out to the instrumental. Feedback from other countries is appreciated.

Jan Delay – Oh Jonny (Bass ill Euro Remix)

Vertigo for the dancefloor!

Not being producers ourselves, and relying on our friends for some fresh material, we thought we would share another booty from atomic hooligan that’s been working well in Manchester over the last few weeks.

Taking vocal samples from Eric B & Rakim’s Know the Ledge, this is a dancefloor destroying electro, bassline tear out to get fists pumping and feet jumping!

If a picture paints a thousand words then here’s something to keep your eyes busy… Ali McLeod is a British photographer living in New York City. Graduate of the world famous New School (Parson’s College NYC) Ali has photographed her fair share of the city’s hip hop fraternity, and has published in magazines such as High Times. I think her work is fantastic… (but then I would… she’s my sister… ssshhh!) I hope you all do too.

If you would like to check out more of Ali’s work and show some love, head on over to her site and say hello!
