This tune woke me up this morning, and it made me remember the days when these old time tunes where on heavy rotation at my house and when i used to play them at night. Great lovely tune, this goes out to all my searching friends, buddies and human compadres. Stop searching, its all right here, right now. Enjoy this tune[audio:http://www.chromemusic.de/wp-content/uploads/2011/09/Searching-Roy-Ayres.mp3]

Hands down, this is what i have been waiting for! For all you horn addicts, these guys really make me enjoy the whole lot of their tunes! Finally they drop their debut album on the überawesome WahWah 45s Label – and EVERY song is great!
Pls suport these guys and their great debut record by buying their album right here . I got mine right away, really a fanboy over here. Might even do a second remix to one of their tunes, but w/o a free download. Even though i think our Africa (YUM YUM remix) elevated them to at least becoming known within the german scene. Support these guys, their genuine great compositions and a few greatly reinterpreted cover versions.
Here is their debut album as bandcamp stream:
The Hackney Colliery Band are:
Cath Roberts – Alto/baritone sax
Tom Ward – Tenor sax
Steve Pretty – Trumpet/Melodica
Nick Ashwood – Trumpet/Flugel Horn
Dave Odams – Trombone/Superbone
Jonathan Sweeney – Trombone
Magnus Dearness – Trombone
Jeff Miller – Sousaphone
Olly Blackman – Bass drum and paraphernalia
Luke Christie – Snare drum and shenanigans
Finally the album is here… we wrote about Sallie Ford over a year ago, even had one of her songs (Danger) in our annual top tunes and the way i described their sound was “…I feel the sun shining through in their music, i feel like sippin a cold lemonade under a summer tree near the lake… and seriously it has such an open and positive vibe (aargh words again) – Simply love this band.”
Ps i really really want to see you guys live, so make sure to tour the Eu anytime soon… uh …please!
Introducing…. Fitz & the Tantrums, although the album “Pick up the pieces” came out last summer and the Ep is even from way back in 2009. Its worth re-introducing this somewhat Motown instumented band, that reminds me, songstructure & hook wise, more of some 80ies bands that i simply cant name no more, but i know that Fitz’ swinging curl looks a lot like 80ies band ABC’s frontman Martin Fry, and the whole lot of them sure have that Blues Brothers look. In a post Mark Ronson world these songs fit right in with the modern day whiteboy soul thats rejecting todays so called soul offerings and looking for something with a more original feel – and this is where Fitz & the Tantrums come in, they sound authentic and thats why we dig them. Here are the tunes we recommend.
Fitz & The Tantrums – Breakin The Chains Of Love
Fitz & The Tantrums – Don’t Gotta Work It Out
Fitz & the Tantrums – L.O.V
