The Roots – How i got over – new Album!!!

And its right up my alley… Love this Album all the way through. Its good music and it has that deep moody feel to it, excellent orchestration, classic verses, its not chasing any trends, it creates its own style and thats what hip hop always claimed for it itself… these cats simply do it.  One of the few vinyls that i bought (online though) in recent times. i know its not much of a review but there is gonna be at least one more pf our writers here on the blog talking about this album. check this tune out:

The Roots “How I Got Over” Video

another reminder about the Roots new Album dropping June 22nd! Ps we had the Album title track “How i got over” up on this site over a year ago in our YUM YUM top tunes for August 2009!!! Even had this tune on my Serato surfin down blogland mixtape!! Ps – like my man Tand showed me, Questlove leaving comments on our blog! Aaand – man if you only knew, about his 6 years old “Babies making babies” Compilation on BBE rec. That was a hot summer. i am sure my ex girl remembers that. Lol

Masters of War

Damn, is this song good! A live version of the legendary Roots Crew covering Bob Dylans “Masters of War”. I had this one on repeat for a 2 full h.. I can only take my hats off to Bob Dylans masterpiece, nod my head agreeingly to the words and simply feel the music of this beautifully interpreted version. Length 9.20. “You Masters of War…even Jesus could never forgive what you do…” Listen close…
