YUM YUM Top Tunes Continues | 2/17

1484109733256

It has been a long time! And starting right now we are back with our monthly YUM YUM Top Tunes!

Much has changed, the world has gotten even madder than before, a lot of cry babies left & right, and since we are so knee-deep in math at the moment and super involved in making, curating and diffusing music, we thought it would be the perfect time to bring back our YUM YUM Top Tunes. The Top Tunes have been running for a decade, until we stopped in ’12 or ’13, ever since Obama installed that immigration ban on Iraqis & Cubans. I don’t even really remember, but they have been an inspiration to many folks throughout the years, so we’ll have it up on the blog every 1st Friday of the month + an according Spotify Playlist, since you folks are all ‘super digitally on fleek” these days. Russian Hacker style!

The political compass is changing and i mean literally shapeshifting, like never seen before and conspiracy theories are being proven right by the dozen. So here’s this months Fake News Soundtrack to accompany you into La-la Land while the media tries to brainwash you MK Ultra Style with another Moloch loving plastic artist – to keep you forever trapped and bubbling in your bubbly mood bubble. So hop aboard the Soul Train and enjoy this months ride aaaaand….

Ps After much research has been conducted we can now scientifically prove that Facebook is cancer!

Follow the YUM YUM Top Tunes on Spotify. At least Spotify was built by the guy who invented U-Torrent, so it still has a distant scent of un peu de piratique! Here is a button, so click the button and follow the button. Cause you know how to push a button, you beautiful digital Wunderkind!

Ed Sheeran – “Drunk in Love” (Dominique Jardin Remix). A Star In the Making. FREE DL

Dominique is already a star in the making. Lady is playing 90+ gigs a year for a respectable fee, playing the cool festivals and what not, partying with the big boys and i mean the BIG names, and she is the new global Red Bull EDM festival correspondent! So she is probably what has been missing on the EDM, Deep House, Electronic side of things, a respected and fun female dj who is not the defender of a cultural elite, exclusively deejaying in some halftime hip little bar in kreuzberg. She is cut out for the big stage, where girls belong as much as guys do. It’s just funny that is always has to be an Austrian who does it first in Europe for the rest to follow, and she is of course from Vienna…

I saw a few gigs of her and not even Avicii started at that level, where she already is. She is also a brand ambassador for Mercedes, as in Mercedes Benz, not Mercedes, my chilean house keeper, the more surprising it is that this is her first tune… ever… “she just didn’t feel the time was right.” Even though it’s a remix, you pretty much see where she is going with this. I call that focus.

And whats even more surprising is that she plays the cool side of things, she sent me one of her sets and she lives, although big room, right on the Dillon Francis side of things. and her first track is proof of that. Ed Sheeran took my favourite Beyonce song and turned it into an acoustic ballad, Dominique took Eds cover and turned it into a festival monster, with all the right ingredients, future bass, a trancy build up and whatnot. I had this on repeat, and i wouldn’t even call this EDM, but i also heard what else she had in store – and it’s gonna be good. Some big fat US cat is gonna come around and hijack the dame before any of us even knows what has happened and who she is. And she is gonna blow up stateside. If my label was into that kind of music i’d sign her right away, but so she is gonna do 2 remixes for me and i am super fine with that, bc the first one already came out a monster.

ps. i had never heard of her before we started chatting 2 months ago. shame on me! check out her website

Breda – Experience (ft. Olivia Louise)

If this track is any indication of where Breda is going there’s gonna be babies made to their sound. Yes, it’s that good! If you wanna go all technical, Riverside Studio, on them, than there is some wiggle room for improvement, mostly in the arrangement on the songwriting or compositional side and a bit on the sheer production side. But and this is a huge but, almost like that butt in that ancient Sir Mix a lot video ;), the atmosphere is there from the start and throughout, and this is the most important part of music in general and where most young cats fail : they rarely match the mood or vibe that’s demanded by the melody or the vocals, which are by the way fantastically laced by Ms Olivia Louise. Seems like this entire production was made for her vocals and not the producers egos. Somebody put work, effort, thought and feeling into this one!

Sounds like a state of the art (Us & Uk) production that has the charme of a 90’s girlie R&B vibe that reminds me of Brandy and the likes while showing some skill and depth on the production side, while still transporting some heavy feels. Great effort and had it on repeat for a whole bunch of days… pretty rare in these digital days...

Khwezi – Like an Animal

Check out my man Khwezi, hailing from Durban, S.A. Proper original hip hop feel, with some deep futuristic approach underneath the surface. One of those tunes that could go places in Germany, and especially one place, a real live dancefloor .  Don’t know if this an old r&b vocal that’s used or not, but who cares. If it works it works. Might strike you as too popish-american-radio at first, but when you get into it after 30 seconds, you feel the depth of the production, and unlike Mura Masas music, Khwezi definitely produced this tune without 3 sound engineers. So this reeks even more of  real talent & skills and amasses into a heavy, heavy tune. I think Khwezi will be a frequent on this blog, since i consider all 3 tunes, that i’ve heard so far, are a stay… in our dj crates and on our radar. So blessings man, and hit me up directly when u have a new one!
