Playing this one in front of 50 delirious people at 5am is like hitting a homer at the company picnic – it hardly gets any better than that. The vast majority of you probably has Ms. Rushen’s 82 Hit „Forget me Nots“ somewhere in your basement or on your hard drive, but this gem of her 79 LP „Pizzazz“ I’d reckon to be rather slept on. With its fantastic arrangement and Patrice’s honey-sweet voice, this is the perfect record to tell folks at the club when the lights are about to be turned on to go hug themselves. As Larry David said „if you’re one of those idiots who needs to feel good, go get yourself a foot massage“ – you might as well blast this one while you’re at it.
[audio:http://www.chromemusic.de/wp-content/uploads/2010/12/02-Havent-You-Heard.mp3]Dancehall always has been kind of a mistery to me, on one hand you got all these nice feelgood tunes that seem to fit perfectly with the whole concept of YUM YUM. On the other hand you got this whole homophobic bwaty boy attitude which feels almost more ridiculous than all the smack talk in Hip Hop. None of the less Dancehall has always been a part of YUM YUM Sound and its come a long way. Over the next weeks I´ll post a YUM YUM suitable Dancehall tune every once in a week, starting with one of my personal favourites…
