While you’re sitting in front of your computer, making an edit of any song, there is always the question – is it worth it. I asked myself that question first. But i realized very quickly while i played the edit live for the first time, that it is worth to re-arrange, add some drums, put a baseline onto and mix it with some hip hop lyrics cause the original song is simply to lame to play at clubs nowadays. Marvin & Mos – a match made in heaven Harlem.

I am not really a big fan of Mashup Albums, since they mostly use the same vocals and tunes over and over,and make us and the rest of the clout here go…

But this combination just worked on the first “Yassin Gaye” album, so why not make another one? Here is Vol 2 and “My Umi Says” has to be my favourite, that’s why i posted it separately. Since the original was one of those tunes that i kept playing till the record became unplayable. Marvin & Mos a match made in heaven Harlem.

UPDATE: After listening to this Album for two days straight, i sudenly stopped and realized how utterly brilliant this piece really is.

i can now assure that this is a work of art. Fun filled art, and so many little pain in the a** details (for a producer) that make up the sum of everything you hear. Somebody put a whole lot of effort into his, her or their work and it really pays off. Kudos for this masterpiece of a free album. Collector’s item.

One of my all time favourite Marvin tunes (I want you) from one of the coolest Soul albums ever, gets a respectful remix treatment with a Mos vocal from the pretty rare “Summertime” 12″. What a chill tune. Suddenly i feel an urge to make a new mixtape. Definitely one of the best tunes of the new “Yasiin Gaye” album.

Lovely, lovely music, that is all i can say…

The perfect ‘wake up on a bright summer morning’ soundtrack or when you are chilling in a hammock, any time of day. They labeled it R&B and if that’s what R&B sounds like from now on, sign me up – but they also labeled it Accoustic Soul and that’s so much more accurate. The 4th track “Sunny Day” is my favourite of the lot. If i’m not mistaken, that’s the girl from the ‘Internet’ (the band – duh). Her Soundcloud account says: “Music is love…growth is beautiful. Thanks for listening!”. Sounds like she is one of us.
