Marlon Percy X Dariush Gold – Leaving

maxresdefault 4

Great mellow open road feel, honest sound with a modern touch, love the interaction or even team play of the sub basses, the vocal chops, those sincere guitar chords and everything else that is going on. This is the right mood to take off into the night and hop on a train/plane for an adventure somewhere in the great unknown.  The tune doesn’t pretend to be more than it is and it does a damn good job without relying on pure effects. It’s another one of the many catchy tunes atm, but somehow it still sticks with you! Give it a few rounds and catch yourself humming “you know i’ll be leaving” unexpectedly during the day. Ps. Not recommended while playing violent video games, it will make you throw down your arms and the pacifying mind state will make you lose every round – tried & tested. But.. put it on your big bassy speakers, let the bass unfold, spark a doob, and see where it takes you.

A simpler, dumbed down beat could have taken this tune into mainstream popularity, but it would have taken so much of its finesse away – and its highly appreciated the  way it is!! Thank god there is room for art in the world, and not everything sounds like future bass/edm/808beats. Definitely going into this months top tunes!

Real deep, goosebump material: “real” (feat. Liv Stockton) by Snocker Cot

Just let the track unfold, for a minute, until it really sinks in. The longer it runs the more it creates that eery feeling of a haunted house and memories of a time long gone by or that never even happened. Great production by an artist i just got introduced to. Many modern tracks miss to create that certain feeling, and this one easily captures it, even though it drifts off into instrumental parts of the song that do not sound ‘real’ but more like an illusion, a state of mind fuck.

I only wish the track was longer… Great beatmaker, good vocals and highly recommended for every chill / learn / work / night drive / space the fuck out – playlist. The old genre “Trip Hop” comes to mind!

I for one welcome our new trippy overlords!

Jean Atem & RAYVON – Spend Time

A dancehall r&b blend with a lot of pop appeal, straight from the island of Saint Lucia, with a proper sexy Caribbean feel. No doubt when Rayvon is on the track, but still the whole flow just moves like a snake through the track, and if there is anything to critisize, it is that the track could have been produced a bit more like Drakes Controller or Hotline Bling, bc the feel is already there with the super hooky and flawless vocals. Smells like it’s remix time, but a good thing this track came out, so that we can keep an eye on Jean Atem & his buddy Rayvons future endeavours! I guess, as always, continuity is the key to success here, and let’s see what else this new impeccable duo can cook up.

Spend Time is a collaborative track between Jean Atem and his best friend and music partner RAYVON. It blends an upscale Caribbean sound with notes of pop and dance. The fusion is catchy and captivating and its mainstream presence is undeniable.

Trust Feat. Cintia Lund by The Golden Pony

Big tune alert! The Golden Pony have been frequent flyers on this blog and we appreciated many of their remixes, but this track is a universe in itself with all its many details that make up a this delicate clockwerk. Had Trust on repeat for a long, long time, and i actually enjoyed that it didn’t demand anything from me, meaning it didn’t try to hype me up or give me some kind of over exaggerated sense of deepness or sadness. So the craftmanship speaks for itself instead of trying to build on some phony emotions which songs so often do these days. Welcome aboard my Main Playlist!

Golden Pony about their track:

“This track was written on a cold and rainy November day in Brooklyn. sexedate.ch. It came out feeling a bit dark, maybe the result of the weather and feeling trapped inside, but ultimately it was written with the idea of having absolute “trust” in the person you are with.” Well i trust you guys will come up with even more golden material and i also trust this song can go places, but it’s one of those slow burners… and that is a good thing!

Introducing the haunting beauty of VVAVES “Fall Apart”

adam-burn-cover-2

Emma Sophia Rosen aka VVAVES is a 21 year old Canadian, and a self-taught singer/producer. She has been making music since she can remember; songs have always been an outlet for her to make poetry out of difficult situations. She has been developing her production skills, and through learning the technique, she is able to explore her potential and take the tools she picked up from practice and apply them to her own music.

“Fall Apart” is the first original single I’ve released. I had made only demos and covers, and with “Fall Apart”, I feel it really came from the heart and said what I wanted to say, so I wanted to make a track people could feel with me. “Fall Apart” is about the fear of letting go too much in a relationship or a situation, opening up, becoming so vulnerable that you feel like you’ve let someone in so fully that they have complete control of your happiness. The paranoia of not knowing if it’s safe to truly fall in love. At the end of the day it’s a blind faith. There’s a line from one of my first idols and longstanding inspirations Feist, another Canadian singer/songwriter, that says “..the saddest part of a broken heart, isn’t the ending so much as the start..”

This song will stick with you, simple as that. But more so the tenderness and sincerity of her voice will do so even more. I wish we could team up her songwriting skills, her beautiful fragile voice with a couple of actual producers, like wolfskind, Koni or the likes that are just out there roaming the interlands. Imagine her on a duet with Mat McHugh and you can see where this can go… One can always dream ;)
