Stranger Things – The Perfect 80ies Playlist on Spotify

stranger things chromemusic

If you haven’t watched it yet, do it! Do it right now, don’t wait until cozy sweater weather or next Sunday. You don’t need any excuse to open Netflix and disappear for the next 8 hours. Make sure you have everything needed handy because I promise you won’t leave the house or make any unnecessary steps away from your screen until the last episode is over.

Thereafter you are gonna wish to be one of them. One of the kids to ride your bike and go on adventures with your friends. One out of hundred things I love about Strange Things: none of the characters is a jerk or the simple one-dimensional archetype. Everything starts with stereotypes – you think ‘Oh the cool and hip kids in school are terrifying the nerdy, poor outsiders’ or ‘Of course, the typical chief of a small province town somewhere in the US hating his unfulfilled job while dreaming of catching the big bad guys’. But NO. Episode by Episode every character is (Except some secondary characters who are there to either make you laugh or to push the story in the right direction) growing and turning and in the end you’ll love them all. Agreed, the outstanding performances play their part too.

I personally always get bored at some part of any Show. For me even many Episodes of House of Cards dragged on and I could have jumped over without missing anything too important for the story line. At least that’s the feeling I get. I only remember ‘Wayward Pines’ as similar to ST. So no surprise that the Duffer Brothers and creators of the show had also been involved in the writing progress of Wayward Pines. Ha, knew it.

Although I am not a child of the 80ies (no, I’ve never seen the Goonies and ET scared the shit out of me the first time I saw it) I got hooked by the spirit of this Show instantly. The feeling of being a child again, of you and your friends against the rest of the world and especially these grown ups who don’t understand one thing on earth. The first time falling in love, times without smartphones and the possibility to reach anyone at any time, monsters, friendship and rules of friendship that really counts, promises and mystery mixed with modern Sci Fi. Do I have to say more?

Oh yeah, one more thing…also the soundtrack is on point! Netflix just announced they will release an official soundtrack (something they only did for House of Cards and Orange is the New Black so far and my conclusion is this could be the key indicator to the success of a Show on Netflix since their policy is to not report any viewer numbers). Listening to Joy Division’s “Atmosphere,” The Clash’s “Should I Stay or Should I Go,” or Toto’s “Africa” makes continuing with your daily life more tolerable once the last scene is streamed. And if you do miss the main theme already here is an extended version of it!

9 Theory – Beautiful Things EP

Do you remember the last time you’ve been in nature realising how beautiful this planet we are living on can be? This moment when your mind is still and you just feel blessed without any judgement, needs or desires. Whatever this might be for you – watching your child eating ice cream, the taste of good food or the glitter on water if the sun light crashes on it – aprreciate it and be grateful. Even if it’s just a minute. Stop your mind and make sure to take care of mother earth and all the beautiful things you are surrounded by each and every day. 9 Theory finally released his EP called ‘Beautiful Things’ and it’s the perfect soundtrack for that kind of moments of pure stillness and gratefulness.

Without telling you or for that matter anyone else we made some changes on ChromeMusic over the last couple of weeks. A you might have noticed – you are finally able to listen to all music right from the frontpage without making this extra and honestly ‘oh-so-90ies’ step by opening each and every single post anymore. Now any kid of our no-brain-apple generation and even your mum is able to get her fresh dose of music on our website instantly. so, yeah.
But still, whenever you want to procrastinate but not waste your rare life – time on Facebook feel free to follow our thoughts, videos, lovely gifs and interviews by really clicking on it. This is the only payment we get (and nothing else is wanted from our side).
But wait – that’s not all to announce. After days of torturing our brains without finding a simple solution and after the tremendous help and skills of our best (IT-) friend Wuwu (thank you again!) we now have a little stream player on CM. Just press play on the bottom of the page! Instead of playing all the music posts seperately, I thought it would be nice to bring back our ChromeMusic Top Tunes. Don’t compare it to the YUM YUM Top Tunes – they will soon come back as well but that’s worth another post. It’s simply a collection of the best songs on CM each month and you can procrastiante or even study/work somewhere else while listening to music you mostly cannot find on spotify yet. Nice little bonus, right? ;) Enjoy the Top Tunes May filled with brand new tracks by wolfskind and Lakechild and some of the best tunes showing up on soundcloud and in our inbox over the last few weeks.

It’s Saturday and there’s nothing better than some high class techno vibes to get you in the perfect Saturday night mood. Our lovely friend and worldwide well known DJ Martin Eyerer just released his last piece of art at Kling Klong Records. It’s a rarity to meet people in this huge music industry who actually know what they are talking all day and having Martin as a friend and business partner is something we are very grateful for.
Make sure to follow this master mind of the techno scene to not miss any of his gigs. Since he’s travelling the world a lot to play live he might be around wherever you are.
