Eminem is one of best MCs.. ever, and i was reminded of that this Monday after hearing his new track Rapgod… the name says it all. I was going through my Eminem records and i remembered how I thoroughly enjoyed this song here back in 2002, and it’s always been one of my personal favourites, there’s no way on earth how you can improve this tune. One of the songs that doesn’t get played at clubs in this Hip Hop Renaissance even though it has Nate Dogg on the hook – i can tell you from a djs perspective why that is… it simply has too much energy – from M. Eminem is sick. He is not the Elvis of Hip Hop that only the white boys support, dude knows how to deliver – each and every time! Charles Barkley said it best when he said the best Rapper is white and the best golfer is black. Don’t care what image, look or whatever you say – Dude’s sick!
My effort here is little to none – A simple blend with my currently favourite beat and added a few extras. Nnot your average YUM YUM tune with that feelgood vibe all over, no, this one has balls, a tribute to one of Hip Hops greatest emcees. (Game, Rakim, Nas and everybody else agrees – as you can hear) Food for your ipods. Enjoy it or stay away from the white dude ;)
After scoring the two No 1 singles of last summer i guess Pharrell doesn’t have to stay up all night to get lucky. He’s back with even more presence than in his ‘previous’ prime and his solo tune Happy, which came out months ago, didn’t have that much pull and was featured in a unfitting movie – no matter if it was a ‘fun movie’ or not. Most of the times remixes are simply not necessary and after being so tired of mashups and remixes myself you can call this an Upgrade for Djs – who dare to step out of the 120-130bpm game. Had to do an upgrade to add some punch, percussion, drums, vocoder and a proper Funk bassline so we can play it out in the clubs, and i flipped and shortened the arrangement a bit. Consider me a long time fan of Pharrell and his sometimes strange tonalities that make his tunes so much more funky. Anyways… Salute :)))
