The Genesis Era

The old days that started Chrome Music and YUM YUM. More producer than consumer. Everything fresh.

Riton – Banana Song

Nice & kinda funny track by the English electronica DJ Riton (apropos, that’s French slang for “Henry”). You shouldn’t take this mashup seriously as you can see by his own statement:

I can only say I’m sorry, this is like Marmite, your either gonna love it or hate it, probably gonna hate it though. I’ve been playing it at the end of the sets when it’s felt right.. it’s especially good when the whole place is drunk. Normal.

So props go out to Harry Bellafonte & Major Lazer & of course to Riton for his amusing mashup!

DJ Eleven feat. Mike Baker The Bike Maker – Every Freakin’

Every Freakin'

A new 11″ (haha) by our dear buddy DJ Eleven (Twitter / Homepage) from NYC. It’s called “Every Freakin'” features Mike Baker The Bike Maker (again – haha) and was just released a couple of days ago. I really dig this but don’t take my word on this. Listen to it yourself and check out what Joe (Eleven) has to say about it:

Over a year after starting on the project, the joint that I did with the homie Mike Baker The Bike Maker has finally hit the (digital) record stores (and their virtual shelves)! Vancouver’s Kutcorners contributed a great bassline for the original version. Mike2600, Illo + Keam, and DJ Ayres all flipped really good remixes. And, Kalani did a fantastic job bringing the artwork for it all together.

Since this is a single we do not provide you with a hq download link but highly recommend to buy this via your favorite online dealer. Know that the release includes a couple of fabulous remixes by DJ Ayres and others. You’ll find a couple of links below. If you dig the sound you’ll find a gazillion of free stuff (I smell some mixtapes) on DJ Eleven’s homepage as well as on the homepage of THE RUB which is Joe’s infamous DJ squad. But you all know that anyway. So – enjoy.

new YUM YUM in Munich, this Saturday @ Puerto Giesing

This Saturday  YUM YUM munich takes place @ Puerto Giesing (check directions via google maps).  After a great Start in P Gee, on one of the hottest days of the year – (seriously i dont know what happened to the weather after that) – we are looking for yet another massive night at this great venue. The first night was too much fun, just telling from all the smiling faces that have been there. The Soundsystem is really well tuned, crystal clear, booming on the dancefloor, but not screaming outside, there is enough space to dance, enough bars, there are way enough seats and couches… i could go on… the place is pretty much what this city needed. And there is more to come… like we are considering doing a concert on the roof top, maybe a classic hip hop installment. Anyhow, we still found a couple of spots which needed some improvement and we got to work on them to make us feel even more at home. So expect more and make sure to be here… this one is gonna be a hot summers dance and a massive night. See you in a bit..

Rsvp to the party on Facebook —- and check out our new chromemusic Facebook Page.

Suns coming out right about now! One of this months top tunes just fits right in:

YUM YUM Berlin, Mister Santos (Massive Töne) live! Soulwax remixing LCD Soundsystem!

It’s YUM YUM Berlin this Saturday, 26th of June. Mister Santos formerly known as Ju of Massive Töne will perform together with a 6-piece live Band named Trijo Urban Session. Mister Santos has recently finished the production of his solo album & has also done remix features for Jan Delay & Stromae! DJs will be Palina Power and of course myself, Schowi – since I’m really looking forward to playing some new tunes, such as new Roots or LCD Soundsystem stuff. We will have a new second floor called Goodie Bag with DJ Mr. Thomsen who will play urban goodies from the past. So make sure to show up at beautiful Tube Club at Friedrichstrasse 180-184, Berlin-Mitte, with it’s summer terrace.

FileNotFound #1 : Common “I am Music”

“Whats FNF or “FileNotFound” about? A new segment on the block/blog of older 12″, singles, tunes  & vinyls that i used to rock, play out, listen to, eat pizza on and that i still thoroughly enjoy. If a certain tune comes into mind that i do not have in digital format but on vinyl i will swim the 7 seas and search the webs for it until the file is found and share that tune with you.

And every week i am gonna bring you a new one. The first ones Common & Jill Scotts upbeat, jazzy, swing sounding tune “I am Music” from around 2003 if i recall right. Too bad the 12″ was a white label, so heres Commons “Electric Circus” album cover.

ps. A lot of ÜBER-Twelves used to be white labels so the pictures not gonna be precise and no nerding around, snapping pics of mint conditioned record sleeves, k?
