Our friends across the ocean, the Starter Djs just have released their Album “The Flavour” via the blog world, and i reckon this to be the only way to do it these days. This album release is in conjunction with chromemusic.de and we all hope you enjoy it very much – i ll leave the journalistic description of their style up to others who feel appointed to do so. i simply like what their doing and want to share it with you. below are 2 tracks for a quick eardrop and at the end of the tracklist is the download link for the full zip. i hope you enjoy their latest effort and show them some love on :

ps on Android and people who should shut the eff up.

even though i own an iphone and am thoughly enjoying the App craze thats sweeping the planet, i think Android will be the winner in the long run, just for the reason that its open source. The Apple App shop reminds me of the way itunes used to be. Nowadays nobody is buying stuff there anymore – and why should you, all information should be free. The music is on the websites/blogs of the artists themselves or on some trusted blogs…. ps had the same talk this past weekend and here is what some doofuses where giving me…

“..Well but how can you compare a phone to music?…” – First of, in the language of bits and pieces its all information, nothing more nothing less – no matter what label you tag onto it. And second why did you send me to school, if not to learn how to ask – to become a Robot – just to follow not to lead? Without new Qs no innovation and progress… Singalong in the endless, repetitive choruses of the too gladly lobotomized masses?!? No, but thank you. If we are having this discussion, we cant have a straight talk from Neandethal to modern Homo Sapien, because we would have to meet at Cro Magnon and that somehow doesnt work out, concerning what subject we are talking about…

and this one is my favourite firefox addon right now. very helpful for all our webwork, whether on this blog, facebook, myspace, delicious etc…

3. Shareaholic, not as cool as the previously mentioned firefox addons but essential for our work.

Iran election protest Manchester

This Sunday I attended the protest against the atrocities occurring in Iran. The protest took place in Manchester’s Piccadilly Gardens, Manchester City Centre. It was a peaceful protest and although people were clearly very upset and concerned about the issue at hand, there was absolutely no trouble at all. As a sign of support, we brought down strips of green material and handed them out amongst the demonstrators, the colour now being synonymous with the opposition party fighting for freedom in Iran.

We seemed to be the only white Brits at the demo, and I was pretty disappointed not to see more faces in the crowd showing support… however it was clear that the Iranians attending the demo were very appreciative to see at least a couple of us standing with them.

I found the whole thing to be extremely moving, the most striking thing was the amount of people covering their faces to protect their identities, obviously concerned that their presence may cause trouble for family and friends in Iran.

Not being a Farsi* speaker I couldn’t follow most of the protests, but this only gave me time to reflect on how I would feel if it were my family and countrymen in a similar situation. We should all be thankful for our freedoms, not everyone is as lucky as us.
