Everynow and then comes along a track that pushes you into daydreaming like no other. Sonnengruss just delivered one of those gems, his new track “Running Away”, which has been out since last Friday. Sonnengruss delivers a wonderfully lush vocal line with a very reduced instrumental track, that pushes forward with its deep bassline. Listen to this on full volume and close your eyes and drift away in your dreams about your once unknowingly loved ones. Keep two ears out for this guy!
Pretty boy Toby scores with each track he releases. This one is a co-op/feature with Kids X-factor runner up Richard Istel who has a mind-blowing voice for a now 18y old fella. The original is one of my favourite 80’s tracks so i was at first skeptical, but anything that is positive, danceable with a good vibe is a score in my book when everything is systematically narcissistic, aggressive and pretentious if measure msuic by todays overhyped mainstream. The tracks Sonnengruss pumps out are positive, funky, get the crowd hype and the younger generation seem to completely dig it in his sets.
Sonnengruss, Toby had somewhat of a tragic story with many of his releases. Scoring a Nr 1 at the then still relevant Hypem Charts, before it became a farce, the song suffered from Universal musics inability to pump the track out within a week or two (took em 3 months w/o any promotion) and hurt the track severely. Same goes for his EP and now this track, that came out early this year, performed well on Spotify (over 1 Mio). But the officially greenlighted track by it’s composers, had a sweet video that (ironically) used the old original music video from 1983, lip-synced to the Sonnengruss Version, with some hilarious 80’s effects. Of course a major label/Vevo controlled the content so the new video couldn’t even be released and thus the promotion felll flat.
Seems like a lot of complaining, when most smaller to middle sized dance acts would be thankful for Sonnengruss play numbers, but Toby has the potential to grow immensely as an act, and he has all it takes, musically, as a dj/producer and as the earnest fun personality he is. And he is still in his early 20’s. Well Sonnengruss had learned from these missteps, Toby & his producer have made an excellent roadmap for 2019. They will work with us, have a great release plan and just had another super successfull songwriting week in Berlin. No more covers, samples and other peoples material – no matter if licensed or not. And this time the entire team supporting him and working for/with Sonnengruss is finally a 100% right. Tried and tested.
Sonnengruss is back! Well, he was never gone just busy playing live gigs all over Europe with big names like Alan Walker, Robin Schulz, Felix Jaehn, Fritz Kalkbrenner… (you want me to continue? ;)) As Dj & Sound Designer he knows how to combine powerful Dance Grooves with grande vocals (often supported by live acts on stage) and his trademark – catchy guitar licks that go straight to your feet. On countless festivals like the Loveweek in Croatia where he’s been a resident over the last four years, he demonstrates his successful style time & again.
And as simple as his formula might sound – making people happy and giving thousands of party animals an unforgettable time filled with love, joy and sweat – he’s one of the most honest and down to earth guys we’ve met over the last couple of years. This pays off not just in real life, I haven’t even started to tell you his success story in the digital matrix:
Sonnengruss went to Hypem Nr.1 twice in 2016 & 17 and Universal signed his first official release Day & Night right away. He is monitored as the one German dance act that still hasn’t reached mainstream, although Remixes of his tracks got played in public TV and have and had been placed in several Spotify dance playlists on peak positions. Just his latest official Release, a modern interpretation of the 80ies classic ‘Talking In Your Sleep‘ with the German youngster Richard Istel gained over one million plays on Spotify within a few months. despite having any promotion.
And now this Banger! SG delivered the one remix we were hoping for and turned ‘Love Me’ by Reece Lemonius into a track very reminiscent of Dennis Lloyds “Nevermind” or Matt Simons “Catch & Release”. Reece’s tribute to his broken love got turned into a vibey, vivid, soulful dance track whose guitar will be stuck in your head for ages.
This original track by Reece is just way too powerful and another remix of “Love Me” is just going super sayan or viral while garnering over 9 Mio YouTube plays in 3 weeks, and the story is a remarkable.
And who’s Reece anyway with this breathtaking voice, charismatic lyrics and flawless songwriting you’re aksing? Yes – that’s worth at least another post (on Monday) and definitely only the first chapter of the next big (love) story we’re about to share with you…

We got news for you: SonnenGruss gives away the stems of their Single “Neopolitan Dreams” for free! Since the track is out and up on a bunch of youtube channels SonnenGruss got several requests for remixing their song. So Tobias & Dominik, the guys behind SonnenGruss, decided to make a remix contest. What a nice idea!
Get your creativity flowing and remix the sh*** out of it :) The best Remix will be officially released by their label Tanz Dich Glücklich. Simply send them your version of the song via their Facebook page! Fingers crossed.
Last weeks Viral sensation was that Maggie Rogers vid where she played her song to Pharrell, who loved her beautiful music and gave her some sound advice or better gave her a great confirmation on how good her song really was! Everybody loved that vid and it was beautiful to see a new artist get such good vibes from one of music’s greatest artists.
I think everybody and his dog shared that video, but rightfully so and a few mere days later obviously it climbed the hypem charts and instantly became one of the most sought after tracks online.
Of course a flood of edits and remixes was supposed to come in, since Djs would be playing the hell out of that tune, and i was expecting nothing too fancy but i didn’t find a single good one.
Imagine my surprise when the only good one was by my good friends Lakechild, who didn’t even bother to send a mail to all their friends and fans or make a huge fuss about it, but simply did it! There are a lot of heads out there waiting to drop this tune in their sets, so thanks for a very useful tune Lakechild!
