The Shadow Years

The years and the phase of ChromeMusic and YUM YUM was left deserted and abondened by Chrome. No production. No Love. No One Around.
We had to break down the Matrix somewhere else.

YUM YUM Freiburg /// 1st anniversary and still going strong

YUM YUM Freiburg - Saturday, May 12th 2012

YUM YUM pumping a muscle in south Germany and I’m not talking about Munich this time. One year ago Chris and his entire crew invited us to ye olde Bootshaus and to be honest: we kinda had a ruff start but oh boy we were getting there. Since we moved into the Jazzhaus YUM YUM became one of the top nights within Freiburg and a household name within the whole area.

I was lucky enough to play at both spots and we had mad fun! I think there is a video of me and Dan Gerous somewhere on the internets but unfortunately it has been edited and Dan looks somewhat like a zombie vampire with stars in his eyes… so I hope for your understanding if I do not post a link here ;)

Anyway, this Saturday you will be in for a treat when the Avengers (aka Max Mausser, Dan Gerous and Funk Messiah) assemble (!) and deliver you the latest in YUM YUM music and sound. Here’s a link to this month’s YUM YUM Top Tunes so you know what you’ll sign up for.

And remember: friendly is still the key.

PS: Here is a link to a Facebook event so you can RSVP if you’re into such things.

Bass ill Euro “Alemanbahton EP” on Sol Selectas

Our peoples, partners, chromemusic authors and YUM YUM co-djs Schowi & Passion are Bass ill Euro, and this is their brandnew EP “Alemanbahton”. I guess the reference is understandable to everyone, and you may recognize most of the tracks from all of our dj sets. DJ Sabos label packed these 4 df friendly tunes into a nifty EP and is set to release it in June. If you are somewhat a music nerd or have spent some 90ies dollars on records you probably will recognize 2 out of 4 samples. If you are a proper nerd i guess your eyes will light up for all 4 samples used :) Check the EP preview below and make sure to see them play live, next time at Fernweh & Malaria in Munich, Friday June 1st.

Kids These Days – Hard Times EP

Chosen by Complex Mag (anybody still reading that?) as one of the Top Twenty Bands to look out for and praised by fans and critics alike for creating an own genre or at least the first good jazz/funk/hip hop band in ages – this 7 piece band from Chicago released a 7 piece EP last year, that went by mostly unnoticed. Out of several k’s of possible facebook connections with my accounts only 2 people i know liked them, hmmm? They definitely deserve better.

>>> Hug them here >>> Get them here >>> ps my fave track of the Ep is a track called “Summerscent” (of course that was my choice) which is somehow very reminiscent of the early hip hop / acid jazz collabos of the early 90ies in NY and London and it reminds me of a certain sound Pharcyde were known for, before music history tied them down to 3 of their hits. Feel good and proper music by this fresh new band.
