Tiny Dolphin – Try

We had the pleasure to introduce you to Alex Fisher’s work before.

Tiny Dolphin is the solo project of Alex Fisher, an American multi-instrumentalist indie folk and pop artist based in Austin, Texas.

Alex cites a diverse range of musical influences ranging from classical and contemporary pianists to American folk and British rock artists. He attributes his eclectic taste to his experiences living in Houston, Montreal, Munich and London. His first EP “The Sailor’s Wife”, which came out under his given name was well received by major indie blogs and playlisters.

With Tiny Dolphin, Alex hopes to create an indie rock project that draws from his varied musical influences and instigates collaboration with other artists. He wants to make people either dance or cry (ideally both at the same time).

Try is about someone I know, and how I perceived their life at the time. I spent a lot of time trying to imagine what it would be like to be in their state of mind, and I suppose that’s why I ultimately felt the urge to write about it.

With a production-style so rarely heard these days, it immediately reminds you of an early The Shins, Radiohead or The National.

Reece Lemonius – Comfortable EP

Happy Release-Day Reece Lemonius! We’re happy to release this four track strong EP and share some next level of great songwriting that shows you just how much Reece is bound to climb the ladder one step at a time.

Although playing around with unexpected movements and drops a lot, the lead-track still is made for you to “get comfortable”, sit back relax – but certainly your hips want more. I can easily see this being played in a club as well as the hotel-lobby. Listen to the EP, enjoy your Sunday morning coffee with the right twist!

PS: Shoutout to @Spotify, @SpotifyDE and Switzerland for adding comfortable to your #NMF playlists!

Temple Haze x narou – Please Believe Me

After Temple Haze & narou’s great debut on CHROME last year, the two strike back early 2019 with their ultra chill and harmony driven single “Please Believe Me”. Can’t imagine a more comforting track to start into the new year – I know it’s already end of January, but as we all know, January doesn’t count anyway.

When it comes to beautiful and eclectic music, it seems you can’t go wrong with this duo. Having been featured on Spotify’s ‘Fresh Finds’ before and the EP just being a stone’s throw away it’s time to jump on this train, since it surely won’t get any slower soon. PRE SAVE LINK on Spotify.

Door #21: Alex Fisher (soon to be Tiny Dolphin) – Trying Your Luck (Strokes Cover)

What do you get when you mix The Strokes with Ukulele? Usually some easy-peasy-washed-out-feel-ok-but-not-particularly-great-when-listening-version. Since it’s always tricky to try out these things – not saying you shouldn’t though – without losing the passion and grip of an original indie-rock anthem, I was quite skeptical and curious to hear this one.

Alex says:

Hadn’t heard my favorite strokes song covered on the ukulele before so I gave it a go…and then added some stuff

Well – not only did he “add some stuff”, he blew me out the water with this beautiful interpretation that does the original more than justice. I even think it brings out sides of the track that were previously hidden and I wasn’t aware of.

Could and have listened to this many many times now. I hope you will, too!

PS: Alex is going to release fresh music start of next year under his new project name Tiny Dolphin

Door #20: Reece’ntly Added – “Driving Home For Christmas…”

Reecen’tly added is quite an understatement. This playlist could easily be named “101 In Hit-Writing”, “Breaking BIG-TIME Soon” or “Still Somewhat Under The Radar”. Beyond working an incredibly talented and kind human being I love the fact that Reece can appreciate and find music in all those varied places – appreciating good songwriting when he hears it and is always hungry for more.

Ah! I forgot the last way I’d name this playlist – “Driving Home For Christmas w/o The Cheese”.

Love this! Thank you, Reece!

Door #17: C.O.W. 牛 – #niuworldorder

I’ve written about these guys before and I most certainly will continue to do so in the future. After very successful media-coverage on the likes of COMPLEX, Arte TRACKS and Bandcamp Daily (much love) and the signing to the very successful and renown Munich label Compost Records, this German-Chinese producer-collective still remains a somewhat hidden gem.

The playlist these gifted individuals created reflects on their influences, own productions and appreciation of truly great tunes. Mura Masa, KUSO GVKI, Higher Brothers, Kid Simius, Che Lingo, Syd, Col3trane, Nate Husser and so many great ones more.

Putting women on the forefront in lead-roles and with strong character, #niuworldorder is hinting on a future in which socially constructed roles and stereotypes might be altered. #niuworldorder all the way, I’d say! Gonna pump these tracks now. bye.

PS: For all nerds and gaming enthusiasts out there, go check their website. Lemmings are cows now. No s***.
